- Born in 1919 and raised in Waialua, Hawaii. Attended Mid Pacific Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii. Graduated from University of Hawaii in Honolulu and Union Theological Seminary in New York City. As a Minister for the United Church of Christ, he was assigned to Nuuanu Congregational Church, Iao Congregational Church, Kapaa Community Church, University of Washington’s University Congregational Church, the North Idaho Conference, the New York Conference, and the San Francisco Conference. His experiences ranged from growing up in pre-World War II Honolulu, attending a youth conference in Europe as WWII conflicts began, experiencing discrimination on the mainland as an AJA minister after WWII, working with the poor and black students, and using baseball to overcome discrimination.
